    Thu Oct 03 2024

The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is embarking on a five-year educational initiative to increase public awareness of Chinese gold craftsmanship's evolution and historical significance. The project is expected to benefit 50,000 individuals.

The "Chinese Gold Craftsmanship Heritage Education Program," sponsored by Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, aims to explore the artistic characteristics, designs, and cultural significance of gold crafts through a curated series of activities including workshops, master classes, and guided tours to the mainland.

Over 30 gold artifacts utilizing traditional techniques such as engraving, toreutics, filigree and hammering were presented today at the launching ceremony, featuring an award-winning gold boat inspired by one of the Palace Museum's collections.

Warner Cheuk Wing-hing, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, said HKPM is an important platform for making Hong Kong a center for cultural exchange between the East and the West.
