  • GJEPC’s Dual Workshops Prepare Howrah’s Gems & Jewellery Sector for Exports

    GJEPC conducted two workshops on “How to Export Gems & Jewellery” in Howrah on 30th July, 2024. The initiative aimed to boost exports from the region by equipping local manufacturers with the necessary knowledge and resources to tap into global markets.

    The first workshop was held at the Export Facilitation Centre, Ankurhati Gems & Jewellery Park, in association with Ankurhati Gems & Jewellery Manufacturing Welfare Association. The second workshop took place at the Panchayat Office of BDO, Domjur, in collaboration with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Howrah, under the Cluster Development program.

    Both events focused on educating local stakeholders about the intricacies of exporting gems and jewellery products, with a special emphasis on e-commerce. Howrah, designated as a One District One Product (ODOP) hub for the sector, presents immense potential for export growth.

    Collectively around 75 industry representatives attended the workshops, where Shri Kaushik Ghosh, Asst. Director, GJEPC and Shri A. Salim, Sr. Manager, GJEPC, provided comprehensive insights into export markets, e-commerce procedures, Duty Drawback and required documentation such as Importer Exporter Code, RCMC, etc. They underlined GJEPC’s role in supporting entrepreneurs.

    Shri Raghvendra Pandey from Yes Bank highlighted the availability of financial assistance for raw materials through export schemes, while India Post detailed its logistics services for e-commerce exports through Dak Niryaat Kendra.

    The second workshop, held under the Cluster Development program, was graced by local dignitaries, including Smt. Asha Mondal and Shri Saurav Chatterjee, the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, respectively, of Domjur Panchayat Samity.
