Lights, Camera, PAMP!
Two members of LBMA’s marketing team recently joined MKS PAMP’s refinery and mint in Switzerland as part of a drive to refresh the LBMA image library. Kindly and expertly hosted by Gloria Folidis (Marketing and Communications Officer, MKS PAMP SA) and Phaedon Stamatopoulos (Managing Director MKS PAMP SA Succursale Ticino), Shelly Ford (Digital Content Manager, LBMA) and Katherine Ernst (Digital Marketing Manager, LBMA) joined marketing and design agency RZed at the refinery to begin creating an impactful photo library.
The resulting photography highlighted the processes used within the refinery, as well as finished material, health and safety features, and the best practices and high standards to be expected by an LBMA Good Delivery List Refiner.
During the shoot, the LBMA team were able to capture the refining of recycled material, casting Good Delivery gold and silver bars, stamping, assaying, and sample taking – as well as laboratory processes and weighing, and more. You can see a small selection of the photographs taken in this feature.
MKS PAMP operates a state-of-the-art precious metals refinery in Switzerland. The factory’s refining capacity exceeds 450-metric tons for gold, 600-metric tons for silver and 30-metric tons for platinum group metals per year. Methods include electrolysis, wet chemical chlorination (aqua regia), and wet chemical parting. The refinery has been accredited Good Delivery for gold and silver by LBMA and for platinum and palladium by LPPM. In addition, MKS PAMP is one of only three refineries worldwide designated as ‘Referee’ by both LBMA and LPPM.
Illustrating the precious metals lifecycle
The aim of the photoshoot was to bolster the suite of marketing materials LBMA has to illustrate the whole precious metals lifecycle. LBMA hopes to conduct further photoshoots with other Member organisations to eventually create an online image library for Member use.
