The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) are advancing their joint initiative to foster the growth of Kashmir’s jewellery sector. A significant meeting organized by the GJEPC Regional Office in Delhi recently brought together key industry leaders, including Anil Sankhwal, GJEPC COA Member and Director of IIGJ-RLC and IIGJ-D, and KCCI President Javid Ahmed Tenga, to explore and solidify collaboration opportunities.
This partnership aims to bolster jewellery exports from Kashmir through comprehensive support mechanisms, including specialized training, enhanced market access, and increased industry exposure. As part of this collaboration, KCCI has committed to participating in the upcoming India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere 2024. Additionally, KCCI expressed interest in organizing outreach programs in Srinagar to further promote the industry.
A pivotal element of this alliance is the training program for aspiring jewellery designers from Kashmir, who will receive advanced instruction at the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery in Delhi.
During the meeting, Sanjeev Bhatia, Assistant Director Northern Region, presented an overview of GJEPC’s activities, membership strength, and the details of the Council’s three IIJS shows. KCCI President Javid Ahmed Tenga thanked GJEPC for their dedicated interest in the development of Kashmir’s jewellery industry. The consultative meeting was also attended by KCCI Treasurer Zubair Mahajan.
