  • Hamelin to explore Anderson after defining gold anomalism

    Wed Jan 29 2025

Hamelin Gold (ASX:HMG) has begun a phase-two surface soil sampling program at the Anderson Project in Western Australia, after defining strong gold anomalism.  The gold anomalism at Anderson was defined via the company conducting orientation trials of ultrafine analytical technology. Hamelin has applied this technology over several targets across its West Tanami Project, and the company says it has provided positive results.

The current surface soil sampling program, which began this week, will target a 3km-long corridor with sampling to be completed on a 200m by 100m grid. The results from this phase of work are expected in March 2025.

Once the company has reviewed the results from the current program, the next phase of exploration work will be planned. This may include additional soil sampling and drill testing of the defined bedrock gold anomalies.

Managing Director Peter Bewick says Anderson is an ideal site to evaluate the effectiveness of the ultrafine analytical technique.

“We have leveraged our learnings from the successful trials of this technology in the Tanami and are applying these learnings to this new geological terrain,” Bewick says.

“The interrogation of results from Anderson has allowed us to fingerprint gold anomalies derived from a bedrock source from those in transported material.

“The program has reproduced anomalism seen in historical calcrete sampling and auger drilling and also identified new zones of gold mineralisation. This rapid, cost-effective surface sampling and the application of the ultrafine analytical technology is showing great promise and we will now expand our field trials.”

Hamelin Gold says Anderson’s mineralised corridor is interpreted to trend in an easterly direction, and as such, the company conducted a review of historical exploration data.

As a result, the company lodged an application for an exploration licence to cover an additional 160km2 area directly adjacent to the east of the Anderson tenement. The Anderson Project now extends over 500km2

The Anderson Project is located 40km north of Hyden in the Western Gneiss Terrane of the southwest Yilgarn Province.

Hamelin Gold is a gold explorer based in Perth, Western Australia. The company has landholdings in the Tanami gold province and Yilgarn district of Western Australia.
