  • Turkey bolsters gold reserves with 55-ton increase

    Wed May 29 2024

Turkey's central bank significantly boosted its gold holdings in the first four months of 2024, according to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).  The data reveals that Türkiye acquired a substantial 55 tons and 564 kilograms of gold between January and April. This surge brings the country's total gold reserves to a hefty 781 tons and 957 kilograms.

This accumulation marks a continuation of Turkey's focus on gold reserves. The nation's holdings stood at 542 tons at the close of 2022 and climbed to 726 tons by the end of 2023. The latest increase indicates an ongoing strategy to bolster its gold reserves.
