  • Kuvimba’s gold production surges amid strong market and efficiency gains

    Wed May 07 2025

GOLD production at Kuvimba Mining House has soared to 3 600 kilogrammes during the company’s financial year ending March 31, up from around 3 200 kilogrammes last year.

The positive outcome of gold yield across Kuvimba Mining House portfolio of gold mines anchored by Freda Rebecca Gold Mine, Shamva and Jena Mines has posted significant input to the national gold output figures.

Announcing the gold miners’ performance results this Wednesday, Kuvimba Mining House Gold Cluster Chairperson, Mr Patrick Shayawabaya stated that the positive trajectory sets a good outlook for the national gold production status. “We managed to put out a strong performance for the period under review across our portfolios and we look to sustain this production going forward. We are very impressed with the output which of course must be attributed to enhanced operational efficiency as well as positive outcomes on ore output,” he said.

Firming gold prices pushed revenue outcomes for the period under review to US$309 million. The mining house also stated it has outlined major exploration activities across its gold mines.

“We are going drill 37 000 metres across our three gold mines and we expect a resource tonnage of 40 million tonnes to generate almost two million ounces,” Mr Patrick Shayawabaya said.

Large-scale and small-scale miners continue to play a pivotal part in feeding into national gold output.

Gold production has been firming over the last five years and currently sits at a record 36 tonnes achieved last year.
