Thor Explorations reports promising maiden drill results at Guitry gold project in Côte d'Ivoire
Thor Explorations Ltd (TSX-V:THX, AIM:THX, OTC:THXPF) has released encouraging initial results from its first drilling campaign at the Guitry gold project in Côte d'Ivoire, confirming both near-surface and deeper gold mineralisation across multiple targets.
The company, which holds a 100% interest in Guitry, completed a 3,000 metre reverse circulation drilling programme in May and June.
The latest assays highlight several notable intersections, including 10 metres at 10.36 grams per tonne gold from 57 metres, 3 metres at 14.50 grams per tonne from 82 metres, and 5 metres at 12.65 grams per tonne from 69 metres.
Other results included 4 metres at 6.87 grams per tonne from 38 metres and 14 metres at 2.59 grams per tonne from surface.
Thor said the drilling programme was designed to test a new interpretation of the gold lodes' orientation, based on both its own modelling and historic drill data from previous owner Endeavour Mining.
The results have confirmed the new geological model, with mineralised structures remaining open along strike and at depth. Some holes also intersected previously untested deeper bedrock mineralisation.
CEO Segun Lawson said: "We are particularly encouraged that the drilling confirmed our new interpretation of the orientation of these mineralised lodes, which remain open.
"We also successfully intersected previously untested deeper bedrock mineralisation, which also remains open at depth."
Further drilling will continue after the rainy season, with infill and step-out drilling planned at the Krakouadiokro prospect, along with initial drilling of several geochemical anomalies at both Krakouadiokro and Gbaloukro.
The company is also preparing to start its maiden drilling programme at the Marahui project.
Thor Explorations said it is targeting a maiden resource at Guitry by the end of the year. Côte d'Ivoire is recognised as a growing gold exploration hub in West Africa, home to over 30% of the region’s greenstone belts.
