  • Titan Minerals reports high gold recoveries from initial Dynasty metallurgical testwork

    Tue Mar 25 2025

Titan Minerals Ltd has achieved gold recoveries exceeding 90% from initial metallurgical testwork on sulphide ore from its 100%-owned Dynasty Gold Project in southern Ecuador.

The testwork demonstrates the viability of using conventional gold processing technologies for future development and confirms that gold and silver mineralisation from the Dynasty sulphide domain responds well to traditional extraction techniques.

    Key de-risking step

Titan CEO Melanie Leighton said: “It’s satisfying to show that conventional gold processing techniques can be applied to all Dynasty ores with excellent overall recoveries.

“This is a significant milestone and a key de-risking step as we consider the commencement of development studies at the end of our current resource drilling program.

“The Dynasty Gold Project represents a significant pre-development opportunity, boasting a large-scale (and growing) 3.1 million-ounce gold resource, set to take advantage of the current and future buoyant gold price environment.”

A master composite sample, comprising material from the Cerro Verde and Iguana deposits, delivered recoveries of 94% for gold and 95% for silver in rougher flotation concentrate at a grind size of P80 75 microns.

Subsequent oxidation and cyanidation of the concentrate returned 97% gold recovery, resulting in an overall gold recovery of 91%.

Silver recoveries were also strong and could be further improved through additional post-oxidation steps such as hot curing and lime boiling.

The flotation concentrate represented 13.9% of feed mass and graded 25 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 164 g/t silver.

Notably, flotation testwork across various grind sizes produced consistently high recoveries, indicating flexibility in the processing circuit design and potential for optimisation.

In addition to confirming a conventional path to gold doré production, the study highlighted the opportunity to generate a clean, saleable gold-silver concentrate from higher-grade ore.

This intermediary product – low in deleterious elements like arsenic – could support early-stage cash flow through direct sales to third-party smelters.

The testwork also concluded that less than 10% of gold in Dynasty’s sulphide ore is recoverable through gravity concentration, suggesting a gravity circuit is unnecessary for processing.

    Potential reduction in costs

This simplifies future plant design and potentially reduces capital expenditure.

These results follow earlier oxide ore testwork which demonstrated gold recoveries of 88% via conventional cyanide leaching methods.

Together, the findings establish a strong foundation for a unified processing flowsheet covering both oxide and sulphide domains at Dynasty.

Titan noted that further metallurgical studies will be required to validate representativity and optimise all elements of the flowsheet, including flotation, oxidation, and leaching.

The company plans to continue advancing metallurgical analysis as part of its broader pre-development activities at Dynasty, where a 3.1-million-ounce gold resource underpins significant exploration and development potential.

The work was conducted by Auralia Metallurgy in Perth under the guidance of metallurgical consultant Ivan Hunter of Scott Dalley Franks Pty Ltd.
