NAC Jewellers expects demand to pick up from August as festive season begins

Chennai-based NAC Jewellers is optimistic about a recovery in jewellery demand during the festive season, even as falling gold prices have made buyers cautious and weighed on sales in recent months. Anantha Padmanaban, Chairman and Managing Director of NAC Jewellers, said the steep correction in gold prices has surprised the industry. However, he believes domestic prices have remained relatively higher than international levels due to the weaker rupee and higher import duty.
“For time being, prices will be on the lower side only,” he said, adding that geopolitical tensions have eased, reducing one of the key factors that had pushed gold prices
