New LBMA Report: Supporting Pathways for Responsible ASM
Wed June 17 2026
The Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) sector accounts for an estimated 20% of global mined gold and supports millions of livelihoods, yet less than 1% of LBMA Good Delivery List Refiner throughput comes from ASM sources.
LBMA’s new report, Supporting Pathways for Responsible ASM, explores the progress made between 2022 and 2025 to help build the foundations for greater inclusion of responsibly sourced ASM gold in formal supply chains.
The report highlights the work of LBMA’s ASM Task Force, established in 2022 to examine longstanding barriers to ASM sourcing and support the development of formalised, responsible pathways for ASM material to enter LBMA Good Delivery supply chains. The report also sets out recent progress in multi-stakeholder engagement and the development of more practical due diligence tools better suited to the realities of ASM sourcing.
